1 | We are active and positive agents of change.
Our bias is to engage and lean in to make a meaningful difference.
We are excited about solving tough challenges in hard situations, but we are also diligently pragmatic. We lean to saying yes and seek to be part of the solution. We challenge the status quo. We are relentless. We persevere. We seek energy givers over energy takers. For us fun is embedded in the core of our work not as an afterthought. We act with courage and take bold positions. We understand that progress requires an appetite for risk. We don’t always get it right, but we embrace our fear of failure by always hustling together. Our collective resilience is our secret weapon.
2 | We assume good intent and kindness.
Our pursuit of high performance, quality work and delighting clients is underpinned by our commitment to putting people at the centre of our work.
We engage, question and dissent with integrity, honesty and care. We debate ideas not intentions. We seek to build an environment that embraces diverse perspectives with curiosity and respect. We communicate simply and directly. We share information and collaboration is in our DNA. We practice active listening. We take rest seriously. We strive for high productivity and high value to allow us to focus on what really matters to each of us. We put kindness and compassion at our core, recognising everyone's silent battles.
3 | We give people freedom within boundaries.
Our role is to give highly capable and entrepreneurial people the support, space and structure to deliver on our purpose and their aspirations.
We create conditions for our people to give their authentic best. We invest in efficiency and quality to provide space for distinctiveness and creativity. We actively coach and develop. We hirer brighter and sharper minds than our ourselves. We cast a wide net to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds, focusing on both skill and culture alignment. We are committed to collective growth and understand that process is not the same as bureaucracy. And we are there for our people - when things are not right, we act quickly and decisively to help.
4 | We value ideas over hierarchy.
Our growth as a firm, as a team and as individuals is anchored in our dedication to ‘we’ over ‘me’.
We believe that the best ideas can come from anywhere, both inside and outside our company. We seek further context and insight because evidence is always partial, and information is not knowledge. We embrace delivering and receiving candid feedback from all levels when it is constructive and solution-oriented. We deepen trust with each other by matching transparency and principled leadership with modelled behaviour. We don’t make exceptions for senior people and place a higher expectation of service on them.
5 | We act like owners.
Our goal is for every team member to embrace their responsibility in the growth and success of Mandala.
We seek out problems and provide solutions. We focus on outcomes rather than outputs. We have a disposition for action and accountability. We finish what we start, and we build quality things to last. We earn our way. We get together to get it done. We build relationships of trust. We place higher standards and greater ethical expectations on ourselves. We’ll own up to our mistakes and our successes and always see them as an opportunity to learn.
The words in our values are not novel; there is no monopoly or innovation on ideas for how to operate like a great firm or to behave like good people. We have borrowed extensively from organisations and institutions that we admire and aspire to be like in specific ways. But the combination of these values is unique to us. They are a product of our collective deliberation and individual commitment.
